Consultant Obstetrician-Gynaecologist
Professor Fletcher has had a long, distinguished career as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist. He worked at The University Hospital for over 30 years as a Consultant, serving as the Head of Obstetrics and Gynaecology for over ten years. He also served as the Dean of the Faculty of Medical Sciences at the UWI, Mona.
Professor Fletcher has a special interest in uterine fibroids, conducting numerous patient studies on the subject, and the management of Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
Consultant Haematologist and Oncologist
Professor Wharfe is one of the Caribbean’s foremost experts in treating cancer and blood disorders. For over 30 years, she has championed improving the treatment of local and regional patients with these diseases through her research, clinical work and training of other professionals.
In her 17-year tenure as Head of the sub-Department of Haematology at the UHWI, she formalised the curriculum revision for the Doctor of Medicine Haematology/Oncology programme, the only such programme in the region.
Professor Wharfe’s areas of specialisation include lymphoma, breast cancer, myeloma, cervical cancer, colon cancer, head & neck cancer and leukaemia.
Consultant Urologist
Dr. Thompson graduated from the University of the West Indies in 2007. After specializing in Urology, he received further training in minimally invasive procedures (laparoscopy and endoscopy) for kidney stones and cancers through the Southern Alberta Institute of Urology in Canada. His special interests include this and the treatment of erectile dysfunction, male infertility, prostate problems, kidney stones and urinary tract abnormalities.
He is a member of the Jamaica Urological Society, Caribbean Urological Association, American Urological Association and Association of Surgeons in Jamaica.
Dr. Robyn Khemlani
Obstetrician-Gynaecologist
Dr. Khemlani is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists. She aims to provide excellent healthcare to women of all ages by adopting a holistic approach to patient management. Her services include antenatal care, vaginal & caesarean deliveries, obstetric ultrasounds, contraception counselling, and the management of gynaecological conditions, including uterine fibroids.
She has a special interest in high-risk obstetrics and is a certified O-shot provider.
Dr. Leo Walker
Obstetrician-Gynaecologist
Dr. Walker’s objective is to continue to provide outstanding holistic care with a detailed and dedicated approach while maintaining communication and confidentiality. From 2019-2021, he pursued a fellowship in Maternal Fetal Medicine which deals primarily with high-risk pregnancies. He is also currently 1 of only 3 Certified O-Shot providers in Jamaica.
Dr. Patrice Simmonds-Brooks
General Practicioner
Dr. Patrice Simmonds-Brooks is a dedicated international public health specialist with over eleven years of experience.
Her specialties include Sickle Cell Disease, Family Medicine, Public Health, Corporate Wellness, Occupational and Safety Health, and Chronic Wound Management.
Dr. Lesley Chin
Obstetrician-Gynaecologist
Dr Chin has been practising Obstetrics & Gynaecology for over 15 years. She has significant experience in pregnancy care, including high-risk obstetrics, uterine fibroids, pelvic organ prolapse and contraception.
In addition to clinical practice, Dr Chin is a Senior Associate Lecturer at the University of the West Indies, responsible for training medical students for their MBBS and residents for their Doctorate in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
